- To work as an autonomous, advanced practitioner and effectively deliver an expert nursing service within the specialist area.
- To be responsible for developing and delivering the patient pathway To deliver evidenced based, clinical diagnostic protocols, including the surveillance pathway and Stratified follow up service.

Main duties of the job
- To develop own nurse led telephone clinics in conjunction with the consultants and the outpatient department, after consultation with the Colorectal Cancer Lead Nurse and key stakeholders.
- To support the Trusts' in achieving compliance with Direct-to-Test, Urgent Suspected Cancer (USC) and Referral to Treatment waiting time targets including 28 day Faster Diagnosis Service.
- To support the Lower GI surgical care pathway in line with the Nurse Specialists Team.
- To actively involved in Peer Review and to ensure mandatory measures for Peer Review are met with evidence e.g. from audits or research.
- To be able to request and interpret investigatory results and determine next pathway stage including discharge back to GP or referral to specialist services as required.
- Performing Holistic Needs Assessment (HNA) and End of treatment summaries on every patient diagnosed with colorectal cancer.
- Holding additional specialist knowledge and experience to demonstrate a higher level of expertise in the delivery of diagnostic pathway, including LGI/UGI suspected cancer
