Trustee – Health and Social Care
Surrey
Please note, this is a voluntary position to join the board of trustees for our client’s organisation.
Introduction
Our client provides services that enable those with a range of disabilities, their families and carers to lead fulfilling lives. As a Trustee, you will have the opportunity to directly influence the growth and effectiveness of their services.

Responsibilities
As a Trustee with a background in health and social care, your main duties will include:
- Monitoring and ensuring compliance with the Charity’s objectives and governing documents. - Periodically reviewing these objectives to reflect the evolving needs of society, while staying true to the Charity’s mission. - Approving policies, plans, and budgets that align with our client’s objectives. - Ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and regulatory requirements. - Upholding a collective and individual duty to act in the best interests of the Charity and its beneficiaries at all times. - Maintaining the Board’s independence and managing conflicts of interest effectively.
Knowledge and Understanding
As a Trustee, your health and social care expertise will be complemented by the following:
- A strong understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities, and liabilities of Trusteeship. - Professional and personal integrity, with sound independent judgment. - The ability to think creatively. - Confidence in voicing your opinions and perspectives.
Time Commitment
Trustee Board meetings are held quarterly, with additional sessions for in-depth reviews typically on an annual basis. Meetings usually occur in the evenings, and our client encourages in-person attendance, though online participation is available.
Qualities Our Client Seeks
Our client is specifically looking for Trustees who bring the following to their Board:
- A qualification in Social Work or Health Care. - A strong understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities within the health and social care sector. - A commitment to diversity, inclusion, and the benefits of a diverse Board.
