Job Description: Advanced Youth Offending Service Officer – Social Care Qualified Location: Redbridge Employment Type: Temporary Number of Positions Required: 3 Target Start Date: 28 October 2024 Duration: 12 Weeks Hours per Week: 36 Pay Rate: £26.50 per hour About the Role: We are seeking motivated and qualified Advanced Youth Offending Service Officers to join our dedicated team in Redbridge. As part of the Youth Justice Service, you will play a pivotal role in managing youth justice cases and providing effective support and interventions to children and young people. Your work will be guided by the principles of the Child First, Offender Second approach, focusing on rehabilitation and crime prevention. Key Responsibilities: * Caseload Management: Manage a caseload of youth justice cases, including out-of-court disposals and statutory court orders, in accordance with National Standards and the HMIP Inspection Framework. * Support and Interventions: Provide tailored support and interventions to children and young people to help them complete their disposals/orders and lead crime-free lives. * Communication: Maintain effective communication with children and young people, their families, and relevant internal and external partners to secure positive outcomes. * Equality and Diversity: Ensure that equality of opportunity and anti-discriminatory practices are upheld in all areas of work. * Assessment and Planning: Utilize AssetPlus as an assessment and planning tool, focusing on trauma-informed practice to identify and support desistance factors in children and young people. * Collaborative Working: Collaborate with families and partner agencies to deliver evidence-based group and individual interventions/programmes aimed at reducing the risk of offending, re-offending, and disengagement from education, employment, and training. * Report Preparation: Prepare Pre-Sentence Reports, Stand-Down Reports for the Court, and Panel Reports for the Referral Order Panel and other forums as required. * Court Representation: Represent the Youth Justice Team at Court, presenting information effectively. * Safety and Engagement: Deliver interventions based on comprehensive assessments to ensure the safety of the child or young person and others. Qualifications and Experience: * Social Care Qualification: Must hold a relevant social care qualification (e.g., DipSW, CQSW, CSS, or equivalent). * Experience: Proven experience in youth offending or related social care settings. * Knowledge: Strong understanding of the youth justice system, relevant legislation, and best practices. * Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and report-writing skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, families, and professionals.
