NHS 24 has an exciting opportunity for two experienced medical leaders to provide professional clinical leadership and expertise in Primary Care to the full range of our services. These posts will require strong professional leadership along with excellent collaboration skills to support the development and implementation of safe and effective clinical models and new ways of working with health and social care across Scotland. Responsibilities will include providing medical expertise across a spectrum of clinical care underpinned by a broad and in depth knowledge of primary care, liaison with territorial and other national Health Boards, digital health care and supporting a dynamic response to major incidents. Do you have extensive experience in delivering General Practice Services including Out of Hours? Are you an autonomous practitioner able to exercise competent, safe and effective medical judgement in difficult and complex situations? Are you a strong leader, with influencing and change management skills and a track record of leading teams in collaboration with different disciplines and organisations? There are two available positions available, 1 x 32 hours (8 sessions per week) and 1 x 16 hours (4 sessions per week). Who We Are NHS 24 is a National Health Board established to provide a 24-hour service providing clinical assessment and referral, health advice and information by telephone to the people of Scotland through a network of contact centres and digitally through NHS Inform, NHS 24 online and other channels. NHS 24 plays a key role within the NHS system, acting as a customer/patient gateway to the NHS in Scotland. It also supports and facilitates the development of other digitally enabled services on an ongoing basis recognising the changing health and care needs of the people of Scotland. Where We Are: We have six regional centres Aberdeen, Dundee, South Queensferry, Hillington, Cardonald and Clydebank. NHS 24 supports hybrid working, and this post can be based within any NHS 24 regional centres. The successful candidate must be within commuting distance to a regional centre to attend if required and must also be able to travel to other regional centres when requested to attend meetings, undertake training and any other activities. The Role.. As NHS 24 is a national organisation there is an expectation that the post holder will work across Scotland when required. Aspects of the role can be delivered remotely; others may require travel across Scotland. A significant part of the role is to work closely with senior staff across NHS 24 and beyond while consistently demonstrating the NHS values. Key Responsibilities: Clinical leadership and expertise to the NHS 24 111 service, Scheduled Care & Digitally delivered services delivered across 24 hours Influence the development and implementation of safe and effective clinical models and new ways of working with health and social care across Scotland. This will include undertaking Tactical Command roles during a response. Medical expertise across the spectrum of clinical care underpinned by a broad and in depth knowledge of primary care, and health and social care at the interface of community and hospital care Current medical expertise interfacing with lead clinicians and stakeholders across Scotland, in health and social care settings. Medical expertise to support the governance of clinical content that will be used across all NHS 24 clinical services and channels. This will involve shaping and delivering the vision for digitally supported medical services and clinical decision support throughout the whole patient pathway and promoting the role NHS 24 could play. Digital knowledge to support development and delivery of NHS 24 input to the health and social care delivery strategy Support for the development of learning across the skillsets, bringing expertise in decision -making skills for clinical and non- clinical colleagues. To promote innovation and champion the development of a data enabled culture that drives continuous improvement across NHS 24. To provide expert clinical oversight to the design and development of digitally-enabled change programme strategies, plans and activity. Be expected to support diverse aspects of clinical activity which will include equality of access, public health and wellbeing, quality management, audit, research, development and innovation. This list is not exhaustive. Strive to facilitate others contributions and to share leadership, nurturing capability and continuing development of oneself and others in areas of practice. Represent the organisation at appropriate local, regional and national meetings. There is a Medical on Call rota and the successful candidate will take part. This is done remotely. The successful candidate will have - Membership of Royal College of General Practitioners Actively practicing healthcare professional with degree qualification and current registration with GMC. Extensive experience in delivering general practice services including OOH care Strong leadership, influencing and change management skills, with a track record of leading people and teams across different disciplines and organisations and bringing them together to pursue a common goal (e.g. healthcare professionals, academia, third sector, local authorities etc.). Active Involvement in major informatics intervention (such as deployment of an Electronic Patient Record system) to improve care quality within the last three years. Experience in delivery of written papers and proposals at Executive Management Team and Board Level. Demonstrable experience of working with clinical and corporate colleagues in different teams or parts of an organisation. Demonstrable achievement in a clinical leadership or management role in a relevant health or social care environment Knowledge and understanding of transformation and change theory in practice Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of delivering public health objectives Please review the Job Description for full details on this opportunity as well as the Candidate Application Guide which will support you in your application.
