Children's Care Officer ***
We are seeking a Children's Care Officer to work on behalf of a local authority based in the Merton area.
*** MUST have experience Supporting children with Special Needs / Disabilities ***
Rate of pay: £20 - £25 ph (negotiable on experience) Contract type: 3-6 months minimum, with a high likelihood of extension. Location: Merton, SM4. Hours:
Monday - Friday term time - 2:30pm - 8:30pm. Monday - Friday school holidays - 9:30am - 3:30pm. Rolling rota including afternoons/evenings and 2 weekends a month (Sat & Sun). About the role:
To meet the care and recreation needs of the children with disabilities who are provided with short breaks. To ensure a safe and stimulating environment is maintained for the children. Being part of a team whose standards and work practice exceed the expectations set out in the legislation. To work as link worker, for an agreed number of children who are in receipt of short breaks liaising with the family to support the safe care of the young person, ensuring that each child/YP has access to a broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated shortbreaks programme To partake in any training which is specific to the role this will include administering medication, clinical procedures and undertaking and reaching agreed standards in training for using approved 'physical intervention' techniques for supporting care and control. To ensure children' s welfare is paramount and that child protection polices and protocols are adhered to at all times, by working within the parameters of safeguarding children, in line with Merton childcare and safeguarding systems and procedures and health and safety legislation About you:
The successful candidate will have the following skills / experience:
Experience of direct working, planning and delivering a range of activities and opportunities that provide a stimulating environment for children and young people with SEN, disabilities and complex needs across a wide age range. To have experience of working in partnership with parents/families to improve outcomes for children/young people.
