Job Title: Key Account Manager (Generics) - Pharmaceutical

Location: London (office based role)


About the role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced generics sales professional to join a pharmaceutical business in the London area as a Key Account Manager.


As the Key Account Manager, you will be responsible for developing strong relationships, driving sales growth, and expanding market share within the generics sector. The core focus of the role involves selling a large portfolio of generic pharmaceutical products to pharmaceutical wholesalers and pharmacies across the UK.


The Key Account Manager is required to have a deep understanding of the generics/ pharmaceutical industry, market trends, and the regulatory landscape, along with excellent communication and negotiation skills.


Some of the key responsibilities for the Key Account Manager will involve the following:


1. Account Management & Business Development:

  • Manage and grow relationships with pharmaceutical wholesalers and independent pharmacies across the UK. Identify new business opportunities and develop strategies to increase market share for generic pharmaceutical products.


2. Sales Target Achievement:

  • Meet and exceed sales targets by developing and implementing effective sales strategies. Track sales performance, adjust strategies as needed, and report regularly to senior management.


3. Market Analysis & Insights:

  • Monitor and analyse market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to inform sales strategies. Provide regular feedback and recommendations to the sales and product teams to enhance product offerings and pricing.


4. Negotiation & Contract Management:

  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and supply agreements with customers, ensuring profitable and sustainable business partnerships. Handle contract renewals and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.


5. Product Knowledge & Promotion:

  • Stay up-to-date on the latest developments in generic pharmaceutical products, market trends, and regulatory changes. Effectively communicate product benefits and competitive advantages to customers and key stakeholders


6. Collaboration with Cross-functional Teams:

  • Work closely with internal teams, including marketing, regulatory, and supply chain, to ensure product availability, compliance, and customer satisfaction. Collaborate on marketing campaigns and product launches to maximize impact in the market.


The ideal candidate for the Key Account Manager role will have the following background:

  • Proven sales experience in the pharmaceutical industry, preferably in generics.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK pharmaceutical market, with strong industry contacts with wholesalers, and independent pharmacies.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently and travel across the UK as required.
