Sellick Partnership are delighted to be exclusively recruiting for a permanent Newly Qualified Lawyer to join the supportive and friendly Legal Team at the London Borough of Lewisham. Our client is seeking a qualified lawyer to sit in the social care team who has experience in Childcare, preferably from a local authority setting but they are open to applicants from private practice who want to transfer their skills. The role can be worked on a hybrid working basis, and the desired candidate will be expected to attend the office in Catford twice a week.
The main duties of the successful Newly Qualified Social Care Lawyer will include: Holding a caseload of predominantly pre-proceedings (PLO’s) Undertaking a wide variety of more straight forward child protection or adult protection cases, including giving advice and assistance Carry out legal research for own cases and by way of support to other lawyers within the team Attend all meetings with clients and external parties, professionals’ meetings and panels as required, and advise on all aspects of social services work Advising Social Services clients in person and in writing, on the relevant legislation To demonstrate knowledge of relevant legislation, and specifically the jurisdiction of the Family Court and/or the Court of Protection
