We are looking for a compassionate, committed, and motivatedCommunityNurseto join the dedicated Community Nurse team of Parklands Care Homes based in Keith, Moray. This is a permanent role, working full-time, on a rotational basis that includes weekends.

Job Description

As aCommunity Nurse you will use your knowledge and professional judgement to ensure our residents health and wellbeing needs are met. You will also work closely with the Care Home Managers and staff teams to provide the highest level of person-centred care. This role requires excellent clinical skills and a passion for improving the lives of our residents.

Your key responsibilities are:

  • Work as part of the community nurse team to provide quality, evidence-based, nursing care to our residents in all of our care homes within the Moray area.
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care to the residents.
  • Liaise closely and communicate effectively with Area Manager, Managers, and Shift Leaders in the homes and keep them informed of all nursing issues.
  • Act as a resource on nursing matters and advise the Managers and Shift Leaders.
  • Where possible, assist and support the care home staff in the delivery of care to residents.
  • Assist the Shift Leaders with medication administration to residents
  • Assist with NHS Community and GP visits.
  • Assist with resident mealtimes, to enhance the dining experience.
  • Act as Shift Leader if necessary due to staff illness or holidays.
  • Provide an on-call service at times.
  • Liaise closely with all other medical and non-medical staff responsible for the care of the residents.
  • Prepare for and undertake physiological measurements to assist the nurses and G.Ps. Refer to other agencies as appropriate.
  • Keep accurate, legible, confidential, and up to date nursing records, ensure that they are available to the homes staff if needed, and that they are transported and stored appropriately and safely.
  • Carry out training, and support non-nursing staff, on nursing issues.
  • Arrange the safe disposal of infected dressings and sharps.
  • Maintain and re-order stock and equipment, as necessary. Monitor the use of nursing beds, mattresses, and other equipment.
  • Work with relatives and others to support them, when their loved ones have a life limiting illness, assist other staff and families, with palliative and terminal illness care. Support residents through the dying process and relatives through bereavement.
  • Be aware of current practice, maintain registration with the N.M.C and develop your own knowledge and practice.
  • Work within the policies and procedures in the Parklands Quality Management System. (Q.M.S).
  • Carry out nursing audits as required.
  • Attend mandatory training in Moving and Handling, Health and Safety, Elementary Food Hygiene, Infection Control and First Aid, as appropriate to the job.

  • a qualification as a Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
  • demonstrable nursing experience, preferably in a care home or similar environment.
  • strong clinical skills and a thorough understanding of new Health and Social Care standards.
  • sound knowledge of English and be computer literature.
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • the right to live and work in the UK.
  • referee contact details for your current place of work and your previous place of work.
  • To complete a PVG.
  • Some previous care home experience would be beneficial.
