New starters joining the Trust before this time will commence on the old payscales and will move to the new ones once they have been finalised** An exciting opportunity has arisen on the Same Day Emergency Care department to welcome a new Clinical Support Worker into our team. Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) is a fast paced, rapid assessment unit for medical patients who have been referred by the Emergency Department (ED), wards within the hospital and primary care. The ambition of the unit is to deliver high quality care to patients within the same day in order to avoid a hospital admission- when safe to do so and also reduce ED attendances. Ensuring patients are in the right place, receiving the right care. The right candidate will need to be motivated, eager to learn new skills, approachable and positive. Main duties of the jobAs a Clinical Support worker you will have a range of duties including: prioritizing patient care, performing basic observations, patient weights, blood glucose levels and urinalysis.In addition you will undertake more complex duties including phlebotomy, Cannulation, ECG's, collating patient history and assisting with assessments. This includes ensuring the unit is clean and maintaining IPC standards at all times, also ensuring equipment and resources are clean and available to use. You must be able to take instructions from a range of staff with attention to detail and be an excellent team player / supportive colleague as well as acting on your own initiative.
