Job summaryThe Trust seeks to appoint Consultant in intensive care. This is a substantive consultant post and applicants will be expected to have interest and suitable experience within intensive care. The post allows to include sessions in intensive care and, flexibility to include sessions in anaesthesia, medical specialities and emergency medicine. The new appointee will share the case-load, facilities and trainee grade support with the existing consultants. In conjunction with the existing consultants, the appointee has opportunities to lead developments in services within the Trust. This substantive post will be based in Princess Alexandra Hospital, Harlow and will be responsible for providing high quality Intensive care services and/ or another specialty as qualified, to The Princess Alexandra Hospital that assumes responsibility for the patients within the catchment area in co-operation with Consultant colleagues in all clinical departments. You will ensure evidence-based standards of care for all patients in collaboration with consultant colleagues and adhere to clinical and quality standards as set in the Patients Charter. Additionally, you will take an active part in the formal teaching, practical training, and supervision of junior staff. This includes the professional supervision and management of non-consultant grade medical staff. You will also monitor junior staff locum arrangements where appropriate and focus on the professional development of trainees, both clinically and personally.
