Job summaryWe are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic individual with excellent standards of patient care and outstanding communication skills to join us and be part of our team.A minimum of two years experience in a care setting and a level 2 NVQ in Care (or equivalent) is essentialDue to the nature of the role you must be able to drive and have access to your own vehicle with appropriate insurance. Competitive mileage is paid at 45p per mile. Also, please note, an enhanced DBS clearance will be required for this roleKatharine House Hospice provides ongoing support with professional development. We are also able to provide access to the NHS pension scheme if you are currently an existing member.Main duties of the job Toprovide personalised care to the patient and their family and/or informalcarers Toprovide personal care to the patient whilst maintaining their privacy anddignity e.g. washing and dressing, care after death. Toprovide pressure area care to the patient e.g. change of position, minordressing changes Toprovide practical support to the family e.g. shopping, light cleaning, bedmaking Toprovide emotional support to the patient, his/her family and/or informal carerse.g. pre bereavement and at time of death Toprovide respite sits, including: days sits and overnight sits to allow theirfamily member or informal carer to have a break or some rest. Toprovide accurate information to the patient, his/her family and/or informalcarers Toassist with the patients nutritional and hydration needs e.g. prepare lightmeals, assist with feeding and drinking Toassist with the patients elimination needs e.g. empty catheter and/or stomabags Toassist in the management of the patients physical symptoms Tomonitor and observe for changes in the patients condition and symptoms andnotify the district nurse accordingly Accuratelyrecord all care given in the patients notes and for urgent matters reportdirectly to the district nurse via a mobile telephone.
