Job summaryThe Discharge Lounge (DL) is exceeded to announce that we are looking to recruit health care support works to join our friendly team. The Discharge Lounge provides an essential nurse led service in accepting patients on the day of discharge to release capacity for accommodation of acute admissions. DL supports timely and safe discharge of patients from inpatient wards, assessment units and the Emergency Department (ED). Thus improving patient flow through the emergency and planned care pathways by releasing inpatient bed and ED capacity.DL provides a safe and pleasant environment for up to 18 patients to be cared for whilst waiting for the final elements of their discharge/transfer to be completed. We operate single sex accommodation and are currently open 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week. Main duties of the jobWorking under delegation and supervision of a registered Nurse, the Health Care Support Worker (HCSW) will undertake defined responsibilities appropriate to their role in the workplace setting. They will comply with Trust policies, protocols, guidelines, the fifteen standards of the Care Certificate and the national strategy of Compassion in Practice and will ensure safe, compassionate and competent care is delivered to our patients and service users at all times.It is a requirement of United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust that all HCSWs adhere to the Code of Conduct for healthcare support workers and adult social care workers.All HCSW will be supported in completing the Care Certificate, which can be used to support applications to higher learning (Nurse Associate). Your NHS needs you!Person Specification Qualification Essential English and Maths qualification at GCSE grades A*- E or 3-9, or Functional Skills Level 1 Desirable Completed apprenticeship in relevant field of practice Successful completion of the Care Certificate NVQ Level 2/3 in a Health Related area or equivalent experience ECDL qualification or equivalent skills Essential Experience of working in a customer focused environment Experience of using computer systems for data entry and retrieval Desirable Previous experience of working in a health / care setting Experience Essential Understanding the role of the Health Care Support Worker Ability to manage time effectively Ability to work effectively on an individual basis and as part of a multi-disciplinary team Ability to work in a demanding and busy environment Good customer care skills Good written and verbal communication skills Ability to engage in effective working relationships with both patients, their relatives and colleagues Knowledge of confidentiality, infection prevention and dignity in care within the workplace Ability to prioritise and manage daily workload Awareness and Knowledge of the dignity in care agenda.
