We have a fantastic opportunity for an Ambulance Care Assistant to join our team based in Mansfield.An Ambulance Care Assistant (ACA) is a hugely rewarding and fulfilling role. Each day, you'll be helping someone in need, making their lives that little bit easier, and knowing that you make a difference to their day provides you with a real sense of achievement.Your main responsibility will be transporting elderly, sick and vulnerable service users to and from their medical appointments and between healthcare facilities. Flu vaccination (through an internal campaign in Autumn/Winter).Other duties include:You will be responsible for the care and safe transportation of non-emergency PTS patients. Ensuring timely transportation to and from appointments at hospitals, treatment centres day units or other places of care. At all times the post holder must ensure patient safety and reduction in harm to patients, self, colleagues, and others by assessing risks and adopting safe working practices. To undertake a full range of PTS duties including stretcher work and wheelchair clamping; Competence in patient assessment, manual handling and moving of patients, oxygen therapy, BLS and AED, airway, and circulatory management, medical and trauma related emergencies; basic physiological knowledge. Maintain a high standard of vehicle and equipment serviceability, cleanliness, and permanent readiness. Carry out daily vehicle checks and report defects promptly in accordance with service instructions. Complete all statistical information and patient journey records neatly and on time as instructed. Ensure the patient's home is secured if left unattended and maintain the security of, when entrusted with responsibility for, valuables including money and personal belongings whilst the patient is in the post holder's care.To be considered as an ACA, you will need to be: Committed to patient care. An effective communicator and experience of communicating with others in what can often be emotional circumstances. To be a calm, considerate, careful driver, with no more than six penalty points on your license. To have a natural flair for team working and collaboration. Be physically fit for patient handling and moving. Be able to work flexible shifts.
