CARDIOLOGY SDEC - WORCESTERSHIRE ROYAL HOSPITAL

STAFF NURSE - BAND 5

Permanent

Full Time 37.5 hrs per week

8.00 am to 8.00 pm over 5-day period to include weekends.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, forward thinking and compassionate nurse to join existing our cardiology specialist nursing team in our newly developed cardiology SDEC.

Cardiology SDEC is an innovative service that endeavors to deliver high quality care to cardiac patients with a range of cardiology conditions. Referrals are accepted from the ED, urgent care, GP surgeries and the ambulance service.

You must be a Registered General Nurse, experience in cardiology nursing is an advantage. Newly qualified nurses will be considered.

You will pride yourself on delivering high standards of nursing care, be flexible and have the ability to work in a busy environment caring for cardiology patients.

In return you will receive development and training, and the support of a committed team of cardiologists and specialist nurses.

We require enthusiastic individuals who can work flexibly within the team over a 5 days, Monday to Friday 08:00 20:00

Job description

Job responsibilities

You will develop, implement and evaluate the programmes of care including discharge planning for each patient.

You will safeguard vulnerable adults.

You will participate in preceptorship programmes as appropriate and act as a facilitator / mentor / preceptor / role model to less experienced staff.

You will educate patients and their careers as required where a need has been identified, including information on a adopting a healthier lifestyle.
You will complete patient documentation correctly.
You will communicate effectively with patients, carers and members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team.

You will be responsible for developing and sustaining own knowledge, clinical skills and professional awareness in accordance with PREP requirements and to maintain a professional portfolio with evidence of reflective practice.

You will assist in the training and development of student nurses and health care assistants and complete assessors training as required.

You will contribute to research and development programmes within the ward / department.

You will contribute to the setting and monitoring of measurable standards of care and be accountable for maintaining standards.You will participate in handling complaints in accordance with Trust policy.

You will maintain a safe clean ward environment and ensure all appropriate general risk assessments are carried out within 24 hours of admission document and plan care accordingly e.g. manual handling, pressure risks, slips trips and falls, nutrition, safeguarding.

You will show an awareness of budgeting, exercising care and economy in the ordering and use of equipment.

You will assist in the assessment of staffing requirements, report problems to the appropriate manager

In the absence of a more senior member of staff and as part of your development programme, with support, will be able to undertake clinical / shift management within the department.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse on sub part 1 or 2 of the professional register
  • The post would be most suited to candidates with existing post registration experience, preferably within Cardiology or Critical care or A& E.
  • Applications from newly qualified nurses will be considered.


Desirable

  • Diploma/ Degree.
  • Teaching & assessing qualifications.
  • Experience and competence in ECG interpretation.
