Senior Medical Copywriter – Healthcare Advertising


Position: Senior or Principal Medical Copywriter

Location: London (hybrid - 1 or 2 days per week)

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: Up to £80k (dependant on experience)

Start: ASAP

As a Senior Medical Copywriter, you will be responsible for researching and writing scientific copy for a wide range of print and digital promotional materials within healthcare; developing text from draft through to final copy.


With a varied skill set that will include copywriting, investigative research, scriptwriting, and content project planning, you’ll create powerful and impactful copy for straplines and headlines for all forms of printed collateral, web pages, email campaigns, social media, presentations, advertising, marketing, and sales collateral.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Write, research, and create innovative content that inspires
  • Display a good understanding of the client’s goals, disease area, brands (including brand strategy), processes and the pharmaceutical industry (codes of practice, regulation)
  • Produce scientifically robust short and long-form materials for healthcare professionals and patients across a wide range of media, including sales aids, websites, videos and animations, leave pieces, digital media, and patient information materials
  • Able to create a brand story beyond the clinical data
  • Present and articulate written content to clients, working closely to create strong content from initial briefing through to execution
  • Maintain a high awareness of relevant trending topics and news to identify content opportunities
  • Have people management experience
  • Ensure consistency and quality across all written content
  • Work across allocated accounts to ensure all communication pieces are appropriate for the target audience, of high quality, scientifically accurate, and aligned to the relevant brand
  • Ability to work simultaneously across multiple projects
  • Confident in presenting and communicating clearly to clients


Requirements:

  • Experience proposing the development of new materials and content based on a deep understanding of the brands, their scientific data, and strategic goals
  • A background in healthcare advertising (preferred) and/or in a medical communications agency
  • Competent in using client approval systems e.g. Veeva and Zinc
  • Excellent understanding of relevant UK and International code e.g. ABPI
  • Ideally, you will already have some conceptual work under your belt
  • Demonstrated exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Science Graduate (preferred) or equivalent
